Description: Whitefly Control

The biological control we offer for whitefly is a parasitic wasp called Encarsia Formosa. It is most effective if used while numbers of whitefly are fairly low, so order as soon as you identify a problem. The pack contains enough wasps to treat a small greenhouse up to 50 square meters. A temperature of 16°C is required.

Whitefly look like tiny white moths, approximately 1.5 mm long. They usually fly up like a little white cloud when you disturb the plants they are feeding on. The adults and the nymphs both suck sap from plants and deposit honeydew. The plants are weakened and the honeydew can encourage mold.

The biological control we offer is Encarsia Formosa, it is a minute wasp which lays its eggs in whitefly nymph. The usually cream coloured nymph turns black when it has been infected. The Encasia arrive on a card which you hang up in the greenhouse to release them.
