This free flowering species is often known as red, crimson or scarlet Flax. It produces shiny, silky red flowers throughout the summer – attracting lots of insects and bees in the process.
It is a half hardy annual and native to Algeria. This makes for quite a resilient plant that is used to dry soil and the hottest part of the British summer.
How to grow:
Sow April to July directly into the growing site in a weed free sunny spot, thin to 15cms apart.
Flowers:
June to September.
