Candytuft
Iberis umbellata
Approx. 490 seeds per gram
Candytuft produce a lovely display of pale purple/blue flowers in mid to late summer.
They bloom relatively low to the ground at around 25 cm and are great for beds. With their large delicate heads of numerous small petals, we think they also make an excellent cut flower.
How to grow:
Sow Candytuft seed in the Spring months between March and May. Sow into trays or modules at a temperature of 18-21°C. Alternatively, seed can be sown directly in the flowering site in May when temperatures are warmer. Transplant during May – June, or when large enough to handle thin out the plants. Expect these to flower between June and October. Trim lightly after flowering to maintain compactness.
Flowers:
July to August.
