September

September is a lovely month in the garden. The last of the summer vegetables are almost ready and thoughts begin to turn to the autumn planting.

First though sow lettuce, rocket, radish, cornsalad, spinach and oriental salads.

Order Autumn planting onion sets and plant them when they arrive.

Harvest squashes and sweetcorn and carrots. Pick early apples and pears.

Prune plums and damsons and order garlic.
